The Dwingeloo telescope concluded its main tourist season for 2023 with the 'Nacht van de nacht' event last weekend.

Since 2022, the telescope has held open days during every school holiday, primarily on Sundays and Wednesdays. The peak season occurs in July and August. In addition to the school holidays, we participate in several national events such as Landelijke Sterrenkijkdagen, Open Monumentendag, and Weekend van de Wetenschap.

A standard telescope tour lasts 40 minutes, accommodating up to 12 people at a time. This year, we conducted 150 tours across 25 open days, totaling 1650 visitors. These figures do not include group tours, ASTRON tours, and similar events. With additional open days planned for the Christmas break, the total number of visitors for this year may reach 2000.

This achievement is thanks to the dedication of numerous CAMRAS volunteers, including tour guides, administrative staff, and the Monday crew.
