Regiostars Award 2022

LOFAR has been nominated for the “Regiostars 2022” award along with 14 other projects that have received European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) over the past 15 years. 2022 marked a special anniversary for Regiostars: it was the 15th edition of the contest, which started in 2008. To celebrate this anniversary, 15 projects were selected among finalists and winners of the past competitions. We received an invitation for the special Regiostars event in Évora, Portugal.

Young journalists were selected to produce a video about the project, showing the project scope and regional relevance. For LOFAR, Amée Zoutberg created an excellent video with in the lead role Johan Pragt, ASTRON’s coordinator of the Smart Front-end group and our director Jessica Dempsey alongside Joep Hoveling (SNN) and Michel Postma (Neways). All fifteen videos of the nominated projects can be found at www.regiostarsawards.eu.

The public was invited to vote for one of the fifteen nominated projects. Unfortunately, LOFAR did not win the prize but we are proud that we have been nominated amongst the many projects that have received European funding over the last fifteen years.
