Public lecture by Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell

On December 13th, 2023, Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell gave an enthralling and engaging public lecture about her 1967 discovery of pulsars and the status of women in astronomy. Jocelyn was hosted by ASTRON's Director Jess Dempsey and spoke to a captivated audience of hundreds at Amsterdam Science Park. The enthusiastic discussion session and post-talk reception emphasized how Jocelyn's monumental discovery and decades of work in astronomy have shaped the field - both in terms of our understanding of the Universe as well as building a more diverse and inclusive scientific community.
