After almost 10 years, we said goodbye to Gert Kruithof last Wednesday. Gert joined ASTRON from TNO as the first 'external' head of R&D and, with great attention to the human touch, he has built a stronger department there. In 2019, he became institute manager, a great role in an intense time in which, among other things, he helped the organisation (together with the corona team) get through the pandemic as good as possible. There were words of thanks from Mark on behalf of the MT. There was appreciation from the PV for all the good proposals for outings that Gert came up with (although he did not always go along himself). And there was a nice glass jar filled by Johan Pragt for Gert with all kinds of DNA/genes from the ASTRON organisation that he can take to.... TNO. Once again, we wish him all the best and hope he looks back on his ASTRON time with appreciation.
