PV welding workshop

On Wedsnesday April 19th 11 PV-members attended the welding workshop organized by the Personeelsvereniging ASTRON/JIVE/NOVA. The workshop was held at the Lasleraar (welding teacher) in Groningen. After a cup of coffee different welding techniques were explained. Then we started practicing what we just heard. Our teacher set the bar high because he suggested to weld a radio telescope. As an example he had printed some pictures of the Dwingeloo radio telescope and one of the WSRT-dishes. It was announced that we would get some snacks halfway the workshop. But the word snack turned out to be an understatement: in reality it was a small buffet. On the left picture you can see a radio telescope in the making. As you can see on the clock, some people were so enthusiastic that it was already quite late before the last project was finished.
