Open Day October 2nd, 2022

Together with JIVE, NOVA, and CAMRAS, ASTRON organized an open day on October 2nd. Although preparations for the open day were a bit on the late side, we managed to put together an impressive team of volunteers and an equally impressive activities programme. All parties involved gave their best and the result was an open day which people from near and far enjoyed visiting.

Although we do not have an exact number, we estimate that close to 700 people visited us an enjoyed one of the tours, crafting pulsars, getting their faces painted, learning about black holes, space instruments, and our telescopes, steering a laser, and experimenting with VLBI.

Of course, there is room for improvement, and we have already evaluated what went well and what could have gone better or differently. This way we can make sure that future open days will be even more successful.

All in all, we look back on a prosperous open day and that is mainly because of all the volunteers that did such a wonderful job!
