Richard Strom received the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Award for International Scientific Cooperation in a ceremony held at the CAS headquarters. Strom, past astronomer with ASTRON (and Professor Emeritus at the University of Amsterdam), was honored for his collaborative research with Chinese colleagues, especially over two decades of effort for the FAST (500 m radio telescope) project. In a word of thanks, he noted the roles played by ASTRON and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences who contributed significantly to the project.
