LOFAR 2.0 Stage 1 Station & Timing Distributor passed PDR!

Last week we passed the PDR (Preliminary Design Review) for the LOFAR 2.0 Station & Timing Distributor. The review was held at ASTRON from 25-26 september 2019. A mainly external panel reviewed the documentation set created by the project.

Their overall impressions were:

- The Panel was impressed with the quantity and quality of the work

- Technical design information is substantial for PDR

- No technical show-stoppers

The panel had concerns on the planning, risk management and interface definitions. The team will use their valuable input to improve.

This proves that the new Systems Engineering approach used in LOFAR 2.0 is successful and pays off.
