The evolution of the Westerbork Corner

As you might know there are always two dedicated operators on shift in the control room, one for LOFAR and one for the Westerbork duty. But for a long time when you entered the control-room your eyes where quickly drawn to the flashy screens and statistics of the LOFAR corner.

But with the rise of Apertif and the need for more screens than one laptop screen could handle the Westerbork corner evolved into a piece of real monitoring art.

Now at any moment you can have a birds eye view of all the dishes, network, observations, controllers, storage.. anything Westerbork related from Apertif to VLBI and Galileo.
